Imogen has the basic knowledge of the different crochet stitches: slip stitch, double crochet, half double crochet and treble crochet. All the stitches are different lengths and so using this knowledge she has been able to fashion a chicken shape including comb, wattle and even claws!
I am really proud of her, she did it independently and I am planning to frame it by glueing the back to a piece of cardboard and then popping it into a box frame.
Amazing what they get up to with some basic skills and a box of wool! I try to offer the children as many opportunities for free expression through craft and art as I can, I think it is so important for them to be able to try their hand at anything they like and my efforts are rewarded when they manage to come up with something as cool as this!
My clever Imogen!
